Español III Course Syllabus

Course description: First and second year topics appear along with new material throughout the year. Students should demonstrate solid effort in the target language as much as possible. The class moves along rather quickly and you should be here for every single class throughout the year.

Student Expectations
1. Students will be seated before the bell rings.
2. Be prepared every day. (books and pens, etc…)
3. Be respectful. (raise your hand, no put downs)
4. Be honest and responsible for your own actions.
5. All work must be done before class.
6. Speak as much Spanish as possible, work hard, be positive, and you will have a successful year.

Grading Policy
1. Tests = 30%
2. Quizzes / Notebook = 25%
3. Participation = 15%
4. Class Work / Homework = 15%
4. Semester Final = 15%

Make-Up Policy: For absent students.
1. Available for any grade recorded as a 0.
2. Before school: Wednesday only.
3. Four week limit.

Extra Help: Communicate! Ask me for help!
1. National honor society tutors. (list will be provided)

FULTON COUNTY RECOVERY POLICY:

1. Opportunities designed to allow students to recover from a low
or failing cumulative grade will be allowed when all work required to date has been completed and the student has demonstrated a legitimate effort to meet all course requirements including attendance.

Students should contact the teacher concerning recovery
opportunities. Teachers are expected to establish a reasonable
time period for recovery work to be completed during the
semester. All recovery work must be directly related to course
objectives and must be completed ten school days prior to the
end of the semester.

2. Teachers will determine when and how students with extenuating circumstances may improve their grades.

CHATTAHOOCHEE HIGH SCHOOL GUIDELINES:
Recovery is available to students with a cumulative grade below 74% after a minimum of two (2) major grades. The maximum grade a student can earn for a recovery activity is 70%. There will be only one recovery opportunity per failed major assignment or test. The individual teacher will determine the means of recovery. THE STUDENT MUST INITIATE THE PROCESS WITHIN FIVE (5) DAYS OF NOTIFICATION OF A FAILING GRADE ON A MAJOR ASSIGNMENT/TEST.

Course description: This course is designed for students beginning level 1 of Spanish. Students build upon the receptive skills in listening and understanding the instructional lessons delivered in the target language. Gradually, students begin to use the target language to respond, ask questions, make requests, manipulate, and discuss the lesson elements. Reading and writing skills are gradually developed and serve to support the speaking and listening skills. The class moves along rather quickly and you should be here for every single class throughout the year.
